Vita
Meret Louisa Vogel (born 2004) is a versatile and award-winning flutist with extensive solo, chamber music, and orchestral experience. She captivates audiences with her charismatic stage presence, technical mastery, and openness as a soloist. Her musical journey began at the age of five at the Rostock Conservatory with Sabine Franz, who taught her continuously until 2023. Simultaneously, she received intensive support through the Young Academy Rostock, an international center for early musical education, and completed a pre-college program at the Rostock University of Music and Theatre from 2020 to 2023. Since October 2023, she has been studying at the Berlin University of the Arts in the class of Prof. Christina Fassbender. She has received further artistic inspiration through masterclasses with renowned teachers such as Prof. Andrea Lieberknecht, Prof. Mario Caroli, Prof. Stephanie Winker, Carin Levine, Jelka Weber, and Benjamin Plag. Her artistic achievements have garnered numerous accolades at prestigious competitions. In January 2026, she and her woodwind quintet 5um3 won first prize and the Friends of Young Musicians Germany Prize at the prestigious Felix Mendelssohn University Competition. Her international accolades include first prize at the 21st International Friedrich Kuhlau Flute Competition with the Ventus Flute Quartet (2025), third prize at the 14th Dutch International Flute Competition (2024), and first prize at the online competition of the German Flute Society (2021). She consistently won first prizes in solo and chamber music categories at the "Jugend musiziert" competition from an early age. She has also received numerous special prizes, such as the Harald Genzmer Foundation Prize for "Best Interpretation of a Work of Classical Modernism" at the 2022 Weekend of Special Prizes. She made her orchestral debut as a soloist in 2016 at the age of twelve with the Rostock Conservatory String Orchestra. Further solo concerts followed with the Rostock Youth Symphony Orchestra (2021), the Neubrandenburg Philharmonic (2021, 2022), and the Lüneburg Bach Orchestra (2023, 2025). Matthew Hindson's Flute Concerto "House Music" holds a special place in her solo repertoire. In 2023, she performed the German premiere of this work with the Göttingen Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Nicholas Milton. The overwhelmingly positive response led to further performances of the Flute Concerto – both with the Göttingen Symphony Orchestra (2023, 2025) and with the Neubrandenburg Philharmonic (2025). Meret Louisa Vogel also possesses extensive experience in orchestral performance. From 2021 to 2023, she was a member of the German National Youth Orchestra, where she performed under renowned conductors such as Kirill Petrenko, Marc Albrecht, and Christoph Altstaedt in major European concert halls. Since October 2023, she has regularly participated in projects with the Orchestra of the Berlin University of the Arts. In the summer of 2025, she was principal flutist of the orchestra at the Tyrolean Festival Erl. She has also performed as a substitute musician with the North German Philharmonic Rostock and the Neubrandenburg Philharmonic. International orchestral projects such as the European Youth Orchestra Academy and the Young Orchestra Riga-Rostock further enrich her diverse musical profile. Her interest in innovative ideas and new concert formats is reflected, among other things, in her participation in exceptional ensemble projects. For example, as part of the Beethovenfest Bonn 2025 Campus Project, Meret Louisa Vogel traveled to Nigeria with other alumni of the German National Youth Orchestra to collaborate with local musicians and combine classical music with Afrobeat, a popular genre in Nigeria. Her artistic commitment is recognized through numerous grants: After receiving support from the Oscar and Vera Ritter Foundation for four years, she has been a scholarship recipient of the Ad Infinitum Foundation since October 2025. She has also been a scholarship holder of the Live Music Now Berlin association since January 2025. In addition, she has received multiple grants from the Claudia Hoffmann Memorial Foundation. Most recently, she was awarded a scholarship from the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe.
