Biography

Awarded First Prize (Mendelssohn Prize) at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University Competition in January 2026, the woodwind wind quintet “5um3” is among the most promising young chamber music ensembles of its generation. The ensemble has already performed at the Konzerthaus Berlin as part of the prize-winners’ concert. The Freunde Junger Musiker Deutschland Prize will also enable the quintet to present concerts in cities across Germany throughout 2026 and 2027. Founded in spring 2025, 5um3 consists of Meret Louisa Vogel (flute), Jiyeon Noh (oboe), Una Weske (horn), Annika Koll (bassoon), and Max Godinić (clarinet). All five musicians are currently studying at the Berlin University of the Arts. At the heart of the ensemble’s artistic work lies an in-depth exploration of the rich and diverse repertoire for wind quintet, ranging from classical works to contemporary compositions. The ensemble draws artistic inspiration from collaborations with professors at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK Berlin) as well as from participating in masterclasses together. Through this ongoing work, the musicians continue to refine their ensemble playing and develop a shared artistic and sonic identity.
